Dear Friends,
With the blessing of the Head of our Order we have been steadily raising funds to purchase a detached property for The Place of Peace and are appealing for your help with this venture.

In the seven years that we have been in Aberystwyth the training and commitment of those who come has deepened and this little Temple has put down strong roots. During this time we have been in rented accommodation and would appreciate the long term stability, and most efficient use of funds, that comes from the trust owning a property.

If the bungalow we are currently renting came up for sale we would like to concider purchasing it, or, failing that a similar three / four bedroomed detached building that is not overlooked by other properties. This would offer guests space, much needed privacy and ease of movement and would provide Rev Master Myoho with her own small modest living area. We would like to offer two private retreat rooms and have permanent office space as well as establishing a shrine in the garden.

A possible location is the sparsely populated and very beautiful Dovey Valley, which is 10 to 20 miles north of our present situation. This quiet valley seems to hold you in the palm of its hand and is an ideal setting for a contemplative rural retreat house. It has train stations at both end, in Machynlleth and Borth, offering easy access by rail, and the main road to Aberystywth, which is a small country road, runs through it.

A suitable property will cost around £200,000. The Tridos Bank has agreed to lend us a mortgage of £70,000 and a Charitable Trust has offered £5,000 once a property is purchased.

WE NEED TO RAISE £80,000

So far we have saved £43,000 towards this and will keep this figure updated so that you can follow our progress.

If you would like to help with this venture you can do so by:

clearly stating on the cheque itself ( please underline on the cheque itself) that it is for "The Life of Faith" property purchase. Thank you.

If, after some time, it becomes apparent that we cannot raise sufficient funds for a downpayment then loans will be returned and the donations, depending on the amount raised, will be used either to rent a larger property or to continue the work of the trust as seems best at the time.

Throughout the centuries Buddhist monks and Temples have been able to exist because of freely given offerings called "Dana". We have no other form of financial support and rely completely upon these donations. They support places of refuge and retreat where those who wish to search their hearts and seek for the Truth may do so in a safe and sympathetic enviroment in the company of a senior monastic.

In the new Temple there will be a Plaque of Gratitude acknowledging the generosity of those who made it possible. If you would like to offer the merit of your donation / loan to a loved one, person or animal, then their names will be alongside your own on the plaque.

Thank you to all who have given, and who continue to give, to this Temple.

in gassho,

Rev. Myoho Harris and the trustees of The Life of Faith
